A friend of mine asked me if I could cover a promotional shoot for him, as he couldn’t do it.
I obliged, and discovered Young Henrys, a local brewer from Newtown with an extensive collection of beer and a delicious cider.
The evening was warm and friendly, full of banter, laughter and drinking.

I had to be on set in Narrabeen by 7:15am, so I decided to wake up a bit earlier, take my camera, and go take some sunrise shots at Narrabeen Ocean Pool, a mere 5 min drive from my shoot location.
As I arrived, I had a big surprise, the surf was huge. Massive waves were crashing left, right and centre, the swell was immense. I could either go up the escarpment, or brave it, the pool has a small walkway in its middle, and while my feet would get wet, it seems the rest of me (and my equipment) would remain dry.
I took off my shoes and went quickly to the walkway, dodging a massive couple of waves on the way.
On the boarded walkway, I was in the middle of it. 4 teenage girls and 2 boys were having fun bracing themselves against the waves in front of me. While huge barrels were exploding all around the pool. My position was not totally dry, but nonetheless much safer than any other places around me, and gave me a nice view of the wet walkway.
Here is the result of my morning excursion.
I have the chance to have a balcony facing west, with a view, and therefore when it is sunset time, I am often offered a show that beats any TV.
Here is a collection, which can only grow, of different evenings when I just had to take a picture…

I had the pleasure to witness two beautiful butterflies fluttering by together.
I bolted home, and came back with my camera to immortalize this beautiful moment.

A hot summer day. I decide to get on the road in the early hours of the morning to try to avoid most of the heat.
I was on location before 9. Didn’t change much, it was already turning into a very hot Australian summer day.
This place is full of details for those who take the time to look for them. Details of objects, textures, lines…
And so armed with 3 cameras (Canon 7D, Sony A7S and my old Yashica Medium Format) I attempted to capture what fascinated me there.

The other day I saw on Instagram a picture of a mural that I quite liked. I knew exactly where it was, and thought this place was due for a revisit.
And so I headed out, with my cameras and my tripod.
The place was much more trashed than the last time I was there. But the mural was worth it.
The grounds surrounding the derelict buildings are worth it by themselves. On this perfect day, with a bit of cloud coverage to give some texture, I spent almost more time going around the pond, with its beautiful water lilies, enjoying the various blooming flowers and the amazing oaks than going through the buildings in quest of a nice shot.
When I was done there, I met with a friend who showed me some very nice old steam trains, and the green of the plants trying to reclaim them is a perfect match for the rust of their bodies.

A friend of mine invited me to take pictures at this Art Gallery of NSW event.
And so I walked the event, pointing my camera in all direction and grabbing those frames.

Hi all,
This year I had the amazing privilege to be in the air for the NYE Sydney Fireworks!
I was in the Sydney Helicopters squirrel, piloted by Mark Harold, while in the back Peter Beeh, aerial DP was operating the Shotover K1 for the ABC broadcast.
Me? I was in the front, spotting, and taking a few shots while enjoying an amazing show from an amazing perspective!
