NYE Fireworks, from the sky!

31 December 2017 (or is it 1 January 2018?)

One can never get bored of this amazing display, this show that millions watch on their TVs, and hundred of thousands come to see live, from one of the many overcrowded view points in the harbour.

Rooftops, parks, balcony, boats, anywhere you can have a look at the fireworks, you will find people.

And once more, Peter and Aerial Film Australia have been commissioned to cover them from the sky. With the chopper from Sydney Helicopter, and Mark Harold piloting, we take off for this grandiose show of pyrotechny.

Dramatic Milford Sound

Today Milford Sound is just fantastic. We fly a few times, ticking off many of the required shots. It is just exquisite. So dramatic and fabulous. Being given the opportunity to see that from the sky is another wonder. An amazing place on earth, so remote, and so left untouched.

Aujourd’hui, Milford Sound est juste fantastique. On fait plusieurs vols, épuisant toute une série de plans de notre liste. C’est si dramatique, si fabuleux! Et avoir la chance de voir tout ça depuis le ciel est extraordinaire. Vraiment un lieu magnifique sur terre. Si isolé, et encore, heureusement,  intouché.

Milford Sound, sunny side, from the air.

This morning the weather is not too bad, it is actually amazing. But, believe it or not, what a lot of film maker, or even simple tourist, would have found amazing and perfect, is too sunny for our movie!

So after flying a bit here and there, we will spend most of our day on the ground, waiting for more clouds and rain!

Ce matin, la météo est plutôt bonne. En fait, pour Milford Sound, elle est même fantastique! C’est dur à croire, mais cette météo qui aurait ravi la plupart de équipes de tournage, ou même les simples touristes, est trop ensoleillée pour nous!

Alors, après avoir volé un peu ici et là, on va passer la plus grande partie de notre journée au sol, attendant plus de nuages et de pluie!

NYE from above!

Opera House under fire

31 December 2015 – 1 January 2015

Hi all,

This year I had the amazing privilege to be in the air for the NYE Sydney Fireworks!

I was in the Sydney Helicopters squirrel, piloted by Mark Harold, while in the back Peter Beeh, aerial DP was operating the Shotover K1 for the ABC broadcast.

Me? I was in the front, spotting, and taking a few shots while enjoying an amazing show from an amazing perspective!
