The Boulders

Today, we wanted to go do some kayaking. Alas, the company we had looked up and found all the information on the almighty internet has closed down. Who said the Internet was always right hey? So, we looked around at what was worth a look, and behold: The Boulders. A river, with a good flow that narrows down as it crashes down rocks and gully, having carved amazing shapes on the rocks.

It is beautiful! We spend the best of the afternoon enjoying a very small bean shape little pool, taking pictures of rocks, details, reflections… A very nice relaxing day!

Aujourd’hui, on voulait aller faire un peu de kayak. Hélas, la compagnie que nous avions choisie et dont nous avions pris toutes les informations sur le tout puissant Internet a fermé… Qui dit qu’ Internet sait tout ? Du coup, ben on regarde aux environs ce qui peut valoir le coup. Et nous trouvons :: The Boulders ! Une rivière avec un bon débit qui se rétrécit énormément et s’écrase contre des blocs de pierre et des goulets, ayant creusé au fil du temps des formes magnifiques dans la roche.

C’est splendide ! On passe la plus grande partie de l’après-midi autour d’une toute petite piscine naturelle en forme de haricot, prenant des photos de rochers, de détails, de reflets… Une bien bonne journée!

Curtain Fig Tree & Lake Eacham

Heading for the tablelands, we stop by the Curtain Fig Tree, a beautiful network of branches and roots that form a full on curtain from a fallen tree to the ground, we then go to Lake Eacham, where we enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Once the sun sets, and we satisfy our hunger with a nice stove heated diner, we can admire the million of stars reflecting on the almost perfectly smooth surface of the lake. What a show!

On se met en route vers les Tablelands, et on s’arrête pour admirer le Curtain Fig Tree, un magnifique réseau de branches et de racines qui forment un rideau entre un arbre mort et le sol, puis nous allons passer le reste de l’après midi au Lac Eacham.

Une fois que le soleil est couché, et que notre appétit est rassasié par un dîner chaud, on peut admirer des millions d’étoiles qui se reflètent sur la surface presque parfaitement immobile du lac. Quel spectacle!

Crystal Fall

So, I am back in Australia, but the weather in Sydney is cold, as in 30 years record cold. Brrrr… I am not ready for that yet. So I fly off to Cairns. Warm, beautiful Cairns. I meet with Steph, a good friend from Sydney, my climbing buddy, who is now living in the top end for a little while. On my first day, we go have a swim in Crystal fall. She is a bit cold, whereas for me, it is almost tropical!

Bon, ben me voilà de retour en Australie, mais il fait bien froid à Sydney ! Record de fraîcheur imbattu depuis 30 ans. Glagla… Je ne suis pas encore prêt pour affronter l’hiver, alors je m’enfuis à Cairns. Où il fait chaud, et beau ! J’y revois Steph, une très bonne amie de Sydney, ma partenaire de grimpe, qui vit maintenant là-haut pour quelques temps. Pour ce premier jour, nous allons nous baigner a Crystal Fall. Steph a un peu froid, mais pour moi, c’est les tropiques !
